Royal Caribbean International purchased Little Stirrup Cay, renamed it CocoCay, and built a secluded island paradise for its cruise passengers to enjoy. The construction was completed in adherence to strict environmental regulations and Bahamian codes. Coco Cay is RCI's name for Little Stirrup Cay, an island they received as part of a buy-out of a smaller cruise line. It is a pretty little island that features snorkeling, para-sailing, and some very nice beaches. They serve a Bar BQ on the island, and a pair of bars are also available to passengers. The water is too shallow for the ship to dock, so tenders shuttle passengers to and from the island. Coco cay is a perfect "manufactured tourism" destination as part of a Royal Carribean cruise. Very beautiful and relaxed - just what you want when you want to get away! Coco Cay is Royal Caribbean's own private island in the Bahamas. It has beautiful beaches and is very relaxing. This cay is private and has been transformed by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines into the best one-day stopover cruise spot in the world for its passengers. A large number of hammocks are scattered about the island. And, since this is a cruise ship destination, there are several bars as well as waiters walking among the chairs taking your drink orders.
